…like a virus gone rogue.
I can finally rejoin the land of the living after being sicker than I have been in years. I seriously thought I was going to die from phlegm suffocation. Poor Amelia was hit with a double ear infection, Gabby got massive hay fever symptoms, and the baby ran a fever of 104 for multiple days on and off. It was HORRIBLE! We are lucky enough that no one has any major health issues in our family and this sickness was a swift reminder of how lucky we are. Trying to give Moira liquid medicine was awful enough, I can’t even fathom what parents of kids with cancer face every day. This mama is very, VERY thankful that it was only a simple virus. (It was pretty horrible though, not something I want to repeat anytime soon!)
While we were all sick life pretty much came to a grinding halt. No blogging, no crafting, I didn’t go near the computer much less my camera. And let’s not mention the house and the level of grime that was on every surface. No one wanted to eat so at least the dishes didn’t pile up, but that’s the only saving grace.
So now I am catching up on my life… there was a massive cleaning effort where I reclaimed my dining room, the floors got a good mopping, and the refrigerator was purged from all the nastiness that seems to grow in days. Ick!! I will be back to the usual fun tomorrow and leave you with this fun photo from my prompt of “A Favorite Snack”- some delicious cannoli from Cleveland’s West Side Market.
Today’s WNWR is brought to you from a good friend of mine, Lili. Lili is an awesome force of nature who blogs over here and also writes for A Mighty Girl, if you’ve never heard of it definitely go check it out! She has three equally awesome kids who my own kids adore, is a homeschooler, and recently adopted the world’s most adorable puppy. =)

Here are Lili’s picks for today’s Want, Need, Wear, Read!
Want- I would really love someone to paint my house these colors, for free!
Need- We really need some more organic apples but the ones here in town cost an arm and a leg. =(
Wear- This completely gorgeous dress from ModCloth
Read- If You Come Softly by Jacqueline Woodson
Happy Monday everyone!!!
Happy Belated New Years!!! I hope that you all rung the new year in with style and happiness!! Gabby and I were the only ones to make it until midnight, which was fine since it was a looooooong day.
New Year’s morning last year!
I decided that I am going to do another 365 photo project, hopefully I can make it through the whole year. There are many different websites, posts, and people who do a 365 project of some kind. Some people do a self portrait, others participate in a group, and many people just aim to take a photo a day. Then there are all the options of how to publish your project- a blog, a flickr account, a Facebook album… there are so many possibilities!
I chose to do a combination of things: I’m going to take a photo a day (usingthis website for suggestions- I may go off-roading once in a while!) and I’m using a website called ShutterCal to post my photos, as well as posting to my 365 Pinterest Board. I’m really excited to improve my photography skills this year, as well as capture the gift of an ordinary day. Let me know what you think of the photos!!!
Is anyone else doing a 365 project this year?
It seems that life didn’t really exist before Pinterest. Looking through all my photos, many of them are of projects that I did from Pinterest, recipes, crafts, even outfit ideas. So I wanted to share my top 10 favorite Pinterest projects of the year. I’m pinning every day and am already looking forward to the Spring when I can start a new garden, break out the sunny clothes, and decorate the house. =) It was a very productive year thanks to Pinterest, that’s for sure. What about you? Did you just pin it and forget it or do you tend to actually do a lot of your pins? Please share!

This is Holly. I rescued her from a very high kill pound here in Ohio. I don’t know her story, how she ended up there or what her former home was like, but I know that someone lost out on a truly wonderful dog. She will eventually go to live with my aunt in NY (who is getting her cats behavior therapy as they are dog aggressive we found out yesterday) but for now she is all mine. =) This gorgeous dog is completely housebroken, cat/kid/dog/bunny friendly, and a joy to have around the house. Her only fault? She is completely deaf. Definitely not something I expected but a new challenge as she has yet to learn commands like sit and no. Check back for more posts on her progress as training a deaf dog is both new to me and interesting.
I hope that each and every one of you has a wonderful holiday season! This year was not what I had hoped it would be, there were plenty of tragedies and heartaches. But there was also great joy and at the end of the day I am so very lucky. I am grateful for all my friends, my job which I am in love with, and of course my husband and children. I have high hopes for next year, am planning on trying another 365 project, and am turning the page on 2012. Enjoy your families and celebrate all the things in your life you cherish. See you all soon!
