spookydooHappy Easter!

(Doesn’t Spooky look pitiful with the ears on? Lol!)

We went to lunch with family and had a lovely egg hunt.

The girls are sugared out on the little bit of candy that they got and everyone is pretty happy.

I hope that your day was happy and bright.

Cheers!

Project Notebook April

25 Mar

I would love to say that Spring is in the air, but alas… there is a lot of snow on the ground with more falling down. Sigh…. I am Buffalo born and usually don’t mind winter’s long stay, but this year I NEED to see some sunshine and green. So here is my project notebook since I apparently need to make my own green… Enjoy!

projectsAren’t they the perfect April projects? Be sure to check out my Pinterest boards for more Spring crafts, recipes, outfits, and ideas!

I love these cute and giveable Easter Egg Terrariums!

I’ve been itching to make a new bag….

Almost done wrapping my wreath with yarn like this one.

I love little houses… these would be cheerful colors like yellow and aqua!

Everyone needs a little birds nest to wear in Spring!

Stomach Bugs

18 Jan

For the last week we were infest (again) with the stomach bug. We all got it in mid December pretty badly so I figured that we were all good for the rest of the winter… wrong! I woke up to poor Miss Moira throwing up on me (again) and also got a text from Klint that we was also getting sick at work. Yuck! A day or so later and poor Amelia was really ill with it, poor thing. And now it seems that I am hit…. ugh!

I am a fan of the TV show The Neighbors, a cute show about a family who moves into a townhouse community of aliens pretending to be people. The latest episode is one where the humans get a cold and explain to the aliens about getting sick. It is funny when the poor mom, who is also sick, is taking care of everyone and yells at her husband for not being helpful in the caring of the sick kids. It is how I, and many other moms, feel- when everyone is sick we are expected to care, attend to, and help our family. But when we are sick, well the world keeps turning and we must soldier on.

We are typically a very healthy family, rarely getting even normal colds. But this stomach bug sucks! Everyone I know has it or has had it recently, most more than once. Hopefully it will die down as the days get warmer… and I am hoping that everyone is better for my birthday on Monday.

So I leave you with this adorable photo of Miss Moira, who sorely needed a bath after getting sick all over me and chasing me around the halls wailing when I went to get new sheets. =) Here’s wishing you all very VERY healthy thoughts!

No School like Homeschool

13 Jan

It’s been a while since I posted about anything having to do with our little homeschool adventure… maybe because everyday, all the time, is what we consider school time. We don’t limit our learning to certain times during the day and so all the activities seem to blend in with our day to day life. But here are some things that stick out in my mind when I talk to other’s about what the girls are doing.

Tallest Book in the Library

We decided to try doing some of the library adventures that I posted last week. This is the tallest book in the library, about Abraham Lincoln, which led to discussion about how we as humans evolve and most people back then were smaller than today’s population. We found many interesting books that were pretty big, mostly maps and natural history books!

first library card

Look who got her first library card! Miss Amelia was super excited about having her very own library card to load up with books.

science timeGabby got this really cool science kit called Disgusting Science from her Aunt Hana. Basically it is gross bacteria, snot, mold, farts… everything that she loves, lol.

We are in the midst of the first activity that involves growing bacteria that we have in our noses, mouth, armpits, and between sweaty toes… ick!

I showed Gabby photos of real bacteria that cause illness like pneumonia and fever, she was fascinated.

dance classAnd then of course we have the weekly dance classes.

Amelia is loving dance, which I knew she would. She talks about her teacher non stop and is getting very excited about recital talk. =)

Next month all three girls start swimming lessons and we are talking about starting music lessons next school year for Gabby.

Everyone though has really been waiting for our co-op to start again… we have been on break for the last two months. Our friends are very missed!

So that’s what we have been up to, along with random nature hikes, physics lessons via Ski-Ball, and weekly zoo trips.

If you homeschool what is your day like?
