Library Adventures

7 Jan

We go to the library every week most of the time. I try to get the girls to branch out, challenge themselves to discover something new, and most importantly enjoy being there. There are, however, adventures to be had at the library I just discovered. Gone are the boring trips of wandering down the aisles aimlessly. Here is wonderful list of 25 adventures you can have at the library, originally posted here at Mama-scout! I can’t wait to do the famous author one, quotes, and simple drawing…. so much fun and adventures!

Sea Dragons, Books, and Ballet Shoes!

6 Sep

Whew! What a week so far!! This week has been chock full of funness and it seems like the fun isn’t going to be over anytime soon. =) Hmmmm… where to begin?

Well Tuesday the girls and I got to model for my friend Ali who is a face painter and VERY gifted artist. It was beyond a blast! I am just as giddy about it and can’t wait to have her come to AJ’s birthday party to paint faces. I think my friends and their kids are in for a treat, just check out Gabby’s cat face and the awesome sea dragon on mine. (AJ blurred hers out accidentally before I could get a good pic.)

Aren’t they amazing! I am in love with sea dragons so this was especially cool for me. =)

We have been spending a lot of time in the various libraries lately, always a plus in my book. It’s funny because we always agree to not get more books than we can carry and then end up taking out way more books that this poor mama ends up carrying. I honestly don’t mind though… the girls and I have a lot of interests and books only fuel the fire. Here are some of the books currently on our shelf:

A wonderful list and only a small fraction of what we actually have out, lol!

Finally, Miss Amelia had her first real dance class yesterday! It was exciting and a little bittersweet because it made me see the little lady that she is all too quickly becoming. I would have put her in dance last year but I wanted a year at my studio to get acquainted before I threw my kids in the mix lol! I also didn’t want her to be in one of my classes, been there done that, it just doesn’t work out well. So this year AJ is in Miss Mandy’s class, a lovely teacher who I know will both teach and inspire. She couldn’t stop talking about class and her favorite teacher, lol, it was cute. Here are some of the photos this proud Dance Mom had to take, lol!

Sigh… she is growing up too fast!!!!!

Have a great day friends!

How is everyone today?

It seems like summer is slipping by, faster than anyone realizes.

My veggies and fruit and growing and blooming, sand is in every crevice of my car, and every member of our family is covered in tan lines in various shades…

it is lovely.

Yesterday and today the humidity was gone and bright sunshine prevailed, thank goodness. I simply can’t take any more humidity.

Anyhow… I wish my hair was long enough to do this.

At least now my candle addiction will not go to waste!

Yep… making a whole lot of this soon…raspberry!

Planning AJ’s birthday party… love these favors

speaking of parties, this invitation is my inspiration for AJ’s

Looking for something new to read?

I think need to make these asap!

Dollhouses are all the rage apparently… I love these ones!

Mmmmm…. ice cream… need I say more?

Have you heard of Pepsi’s Salty Watermelon flavor?

Moira needs this

Ok, I will stop for now! =)

Talk to you all tomorrow!

Weekend Wishes

24 Feb

Well, my entire week was shot due to my being sick, I am lucky that I had enough energy to get dressed and put some deodorant on… I am still not 100% better but I am no longer a puddle of misery on the couch. =) I am keeping my weekend wishes pretty basic because let’s face it- when mom is sick the house goes to the kids! I got some major cleaning, laundry, and grocery shopping to do! But sprinkled in there are some fun goals of my own:

to make some of these lovelies…. sunshine on a stick!

make some fun Dr. Seuss shirts, read The Lorax, and eat green eggs

go to Target and ONLY get what is on the list!

watch some chick flicks and catch up on my painting and Etsy store stuff

Find me some yummy Pyrex!

make some of my own cleaners and laundry soap

And that is about it for me. Rest, plan for some upcoming projects, teach dance, blog…

what’s in store for your weekend??

Make It Perfect

5 Feb

Lately I have been doing a lot of crocheting and other kinds of handicrafting. It is such a nice feeling to be able to make something that your child loves and is the right colors, weight, size. I would love to make clothing as well for the girls but have always thought that unless you have a serger things just turn out as nice. However, this book may change my mind.

I heard about Make It Perfect from another blog I read and I fell in love with the simple designs, that show off the fabric with beautiful lines and not a lot of fuss. Just a glance through the book makes me want to grab some of my stashed fabric and create a pretty dress for AJ and Moira, a pair of PJ pants for Gabby, and a flowy blouse for myself.

I really like this kaftan for the versatile shape that would be perfect with a pair of jeans and flip flops! However, I know that I could do a lot with this Basic Tee pattern…. we live in tee shirts around here! When I sew I prefer no zippers or really fussy techniques so this book seems perfect for me, especially with the full sized paper patterns and clear directions!! If you sew what kind of projects do you prefer?
