Update: Project 333

16 Jan

Update: Well I survived 3 months with only 33 items of clothing! (Not counting my workout/lounging clothes of course) It was actually really nice to open my closet and see only clothes that I loved and stuff that fit me correctly. But, I will admit that by the last few weeks I was craving something a little different and fun. And it just so happened that it is my birthday this week so Klint was awesome and hit Old Navy’s massive sale to spice up my closet. Of course I had to then remove some items to make room for the new things, but that was fine with me!

Let’s review the rules, in case any of you want to join in the fun-

The Basics

  • When: Every three months (It’s never too late to start so join in anytime!)
  • What: 33 items including clothing, accessories, jewelry, outerwear and shoes.
  • What not: these items are not counted as part of the 33 items – wedding ring or another sentimental piece of jewelry that you never take off, underwear, sleep wear, in-home lounge wear,  and workout clothing (you can only wear your workout clothing to workout)
  • How: Choose your 33 items, box up the remainder of your fashion statement, seal it with tape and put it out of site.
  • What else: consider that you are creating a wardrobe that you can live, work and play in for three months. Remember that this is not a project in suffering. If your clothes don’t fit or are in poor condition, replace them.

So here is what I have left

  • PANTS: 4 pairs of jeans- 2 straight leg and 2 bootcut
  • PANTS: Black pinstriped dress pants
  • PANTS: Grey khakis
  • PANTS: Black Leggings to go under dresses and skirts
  • PANTS: Cropped black Leggings
  • DRESS: Little Black Dress
  • DRESS: Casual Ocean Blue Dress
  • SWEATER: Crocheted long black
  • SWEATER: Long grey 3/4 sleeve
  • SWEATER: Zip up Orange
  • SHIRT: Red Long sleeve
  • SHIRT: Grey Thermal Henley
  • SHIRT: Hot Pink Long sleeve
  • SHIRT: Rainbow Flannel Shirt
  • SHIRT: Dark Brown Turtleneck
  • SHIRT: White long sleeve
  • SHIRT: College Hoodie
  • SHIRT: Pink Zip Sweatshirt
  • SHIRT: Life is Good Long Sleeve Tee
  • PURSE: Charming Charlie gold leather
  • SHOES: Grey Converse
  • SHOES: Black Uggs
  • SHOES: Moccasins
  • SHOES: Sweater Boots
  • ACCESSORY: Crocheted eternity scarf
  • ACCESSORY: Stars and Moon Necklace
  • ACCESSORY: AE Green and Grey scarf
  • ACCESSORY: Strawberry Earrings

Not bad huh? It is actually a lot more versitile than it looks and makes getting dressed really easy. I am a huge fan of this Project and it is working out nicely for me. Now, if I had to leave to go to work I might be more challenged to do this but for a stay at home mom it is wonderful!!!

I would definitely make room for these pieces!!

Monday Loves

28 Nov

How is everyone’s Monday going?

It is cold, wet, and grey here… but it is Cleveland in November, so that is pretty normal.

Here are a few things that I am loving this chilly fall/winter-ish day:

I want to make some of these felt critter cases for my girl’s iPod and Droids- cute and easy!

Did you know that if you blow bubbles when it is below freezing they freeze and shatter? Homeschooling project!

I adore this galaxy manicure

and this glittery galaxy playdough!

A cute way to count down to Christmas with the kids, use cotton balls to make a beard, add one each day. =)

Finally, I am totally smitten with this little toadstool fairy home!!!

What are you loving this Monday?

I am in loooooove with this song by this band.

I can’t wait to see the new Muppet movie with my girls…. here’s Animal’s Five Rules of Cool

My nails are going to rock this color this winter!

Want curious kids? Here’s a great article about raising them

Yes! I need to make this soon for Christmas presents…

Sorta getting sick of my long hair, thinking about getting this haircut

….ok, this song is really good too… go listen!

I am sort of obsessed with doing this for the girls… so many great ideas here!

Happy Monday friends!!!

From Head to Toe

26 Oct

I have to dress up for Halloween in all my dance classes this week and in turning myself into a lion I did a quick search of easy but effective makeup tutorials to transform myself. I came across the coolest, prettiest, and most fashionable blog ever called From Head to Toe.

Jen is a cute, pretty, petite Korean chicky who loves fashion and beauty. Her tutorials are easy to follow, technique is flawless, and you can tell she has a genuine knack for fashion and beauty. I watched in amazement as she transformed herself into a pretty lion that wasn’t hokey or overdone and was inspired to do the same. Watch!!

Isn’t that amazing?!

Then I started browsing the rest of her blog and discovered how to do a gradient effect on my nails, a good skincare routine, what drugstore brands are good, and so much more. Seriously, if you want to see cute hairstyles, simple makeup tutorials, and neat nail effects this is the place to go!

Just recently Jen posted a tutorial on how to do Belle makeup which turned out really pretty and sweet. I can’t wait to see what else this awesome blog has in store!

(Speaking of doing Halloween makeup, check out this fun leopard makeup I did for AJ. She wanted to go to the zoo to see leopards and so she became one!)
