Relief

1 May

I was sitting down this evening, after a very long day/week/month, to write a simple post. Just a hello and howdy. And was stunned by the overwhelming response to my post about Olivia*. Thank you for reading, hearing my words, and taking what I wrote to heart. It means a lot to me!

Yesterday we handed in the keys to the old place and I have to admit that it was with relief. This new house just feels… right. Sure the kitchen cabinets are wayyyyy to tall for me, but that’s nothing that a step ladder can’t fix, and yes the bathroom is very teeny. All the more reason for Mama to get some darn privacy in there! I am in love with the big kitchen sink, the quiet street, and the sound of laughter echoing from the backyard where happy girls are swinging and playing in purple sand!

We added a new Beta to our home, a friend to keep AJ company at night now that she is in her own room. Meet Sherbet! (This tank is awesome and looks oh so cool on the wall!)

I am having a lot of fun decorating our new space, organizing, and breathing a sigh of relief that the moving process is over and I can get on with making a pretty home for the girls. I am also loving the now warmer weather here in Cleveland. It was so very cold these last few days, enough to warrant two down comforters! I look forward to the upcoming days of 70′s and 80′s….

So that is my hello!!! Come back tomorrow when I talk about creating a “peaceful” basket for the girls, everyone needs a little peace now and then!

Moving… eh!

24 Apr

So we are pretty much all moved over to the new house… it wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t quick, but it is done. The girls have pretty rooms that are decorated and almost all the way put together, everyone has clothing, and no pets were lost (permanently) in the move. Dottie did decide that she wasn’t going so for 2 days she was on her own at the old house (with food and water of course) and Cole took off out the door at the new house but was recovered late that night. It was frazzling!

Things are still in boxes all over the place, pictures will be hung shortly, but it is coming along! Here are some photos of our last couple of days…

Well, I’m off to do more unpacking… more fun tomorrow!

Have a great day all!

Moving and Grooving

13 Apr

We are getting there… slowly but surely the packing is getting done and preparations are in full swing. Our poor garbage people aren’t too thrilled with us as our whole tree lawn was covered with clothes that we couldn’t donate and miscellaneous things that had seen better days. Today we bought the pretty grey comforter that I spotted on Target’s website as well as a LOT of paint. (I had no clue that paint was so expensive! About $150 for 4 gallons and a quart by Behr!)

The last couple days have been pretty good all in all. Klint has been on vacation and we enjoyed some yummy treats at Menchies…

At our homeschool co-op we learned about rainbows and made rainbows on skewers with fruit… the kids loved this activity!

This little girl, Esme, is the CUTEST little thing ever and belongs to my good friend Lili… love love love her!

and then today we did a lot of cool stuff like bowling at a birthday party!

Gabby really enjoyed this and actually asked if she could take lessons… I see my Buffalo bowling genes were passed on.

AJ also had a lot of fun, she got a kick out of wearing special shoes and was bummed she couldn’t keep them lol!

But I have to admit that the highlight of my day was buying paint… hopefully I will be just as cheerful Sunday night when it is all done!

We are painting our bedroom a pretty grey, Gabby’s room a turquoise and her bed a daffodil yellow, and the living room a lighter navy blue called Captain.

There ya have it! This is been my last couple of days… hectic but really enjoyable.

Cheers and more pics to come of our new house!

Project Master Bedroom

9 Apr

We are moving in a about 2 weeks and let me tell you how much packing has NOT been done, lol. A friend of mine moved and has a pretty house on a nice, quiet, kid friendly street and asked us if we would be interested in renting it a couple of weeks ago. While I love our current house, there are no kids (only cranky elderly people) and the sidewalks are pretty much in the streets- giving this mama heart attacks daily when my girls are playing outside. The nice part is that the new house is basically the same size as the old house with a cute backyard, complete with a swing set. The ick part is packing, cleaning, and de-cluttering. =P

It seems that when planning for a move and decorating a new house the master bedroom gets put to the bottom of the list. Kid and common spaces are always decorated nice but mom and dad’s room is a pile of mismatched furniture, unpainted walls, and zero style. (This has been the case the last two houses we lived in!) So this time I am determined that our room will not be forgotten, walls will be painted and there WILL be some kind of “look” to it! This is what I am thinking:

I love the color combination found here and just ran with it. Hopefully with just a few simple fixes I will have a bedroom that I spend a little more time in! (All the elements above can be found on my Pinterest Welcome Home board!) Well, that is what is going on with my life… lots of packing, baby wrangling, and planning… all very exciting stuff!
